Schwinn Tailwind e-bike first take

It fits perfectly on my bike and is exactly as described. The pictures you are seeing on the product page are the pictures of the bike you will receive if you purchase it. At Upway we truly believe in transparency and trust, so we decided to take the time to have at least 6 pictures of each bike we have in stock so that you know exactly what you are buying. If you have any questions or if you want more pictures, don’t hesitate to reach out at  or via our chat.

These bikes are best on pavement, and offer a super comfortable ride and totally upright position, making them ideal for older riders or those with limited mobility. These frames also feature a step-through design which makes it super easy to get onto or off of the saddle. Never before has an electric bike been as easy to use as one of the four Schwinn electric bikes. These step-through frames are as comfortable as ever, with a host of features to make your first-ever e-bike ride as smooth as possible. I’m sure that keeping it in low pedal assist will still net riders the claimed maximum of 35 miles that Schwinn promises. I’m not about to pedal around in the lightest pedal assist setting all day, especially since this isn’t a high power e-bike to begin with.

I spend most of my time on dirt roads in assist level 2 in 2nd or 3rd gear. For the big hills it was a quick shift to the nice, easy first gear. Each of these e-MTBs has been tested extensively in a wide range of trail conditions, from easy flow trails to more technical challenges.

A step-thru version offers a slightly lower top bar than the regular version. The simple, somewhat disappointing truth is that the Coston DX doesn’t stack up against other e-bikes of a similar price. At over $2,000, it should have better acceleration and range, and as a Schwinn it should have better craftsmanship. It’s undeniably a great-looking bike, but the performance simply doesn’t deliver on that promise. Press the power button to turn it on, which will enable use of the motor, lights, and other electronics. The Coston DX does have a flat-out great lighting system, with a bright headlight, taillight, and running light beneath the central frame that provides solid surrounding visibility.

We’ve re-released some of our most loved, classic rides. This machine is very rugged with minor mechanical upkeep. The bike went together ok, the manual was lacks many steps. A small, easy to use console is on the left side of the handlebar.

Such a feature is fairly inaccurate all things considered, but some estimate is better than no estimate. Nothing feels cheap, plastic-y, or vulnerable to quick failure. It all seems like a robust and well-built electric bike. You also get two different frame sizes to choose from, which is a big upgrade over the single one-size-fits-all frames that many e-bike companies still offer.

At level 5, the throttle propels you up to 20 miles per hour and disengages if you go faster than that (for example, if you go downhill). Class 2 e-bikes are required to stop assistance past 20 miles per hour. Level 1 throttle tops out at around 10 mph while level 5 will give you the full 20 mph. Of course, the premier feature of this e-bike is the “e” part.

A 7-speed transmission from Microshift also adds to the commuter street-cred, giving those in hilly areas the ability to run through the gears on hills. Schwinn has a long and storied history of making the best bikes on the planet specifically for younger riders. That youth-first schwinn beach cruiser attitude is fully embraced in our e-bike offerings as well. The only hitch I encountered was when installing the front fender. Even at the highest position, the underside of the fender rubbed on the tire, and this was before I pumped the tire up to the recommended pressure.
