Mongoose Men’s Malus 26 in Fat Tire Bike

The Mongoose Argus Trail frame is comprised of 6061 aluminum. There is also a steel version sold at a slightly lower cost. That is the seat I bought to replace the stock torture device. The new seat is about 13.5″ inches wide and the horn is a lot shorter. It is a lot more comfortable. As far as I can tell, the Malus and Dolomite are essentially the same bike, just with different rims and colors.

Mongoose has given the “go-ahead” to do a long term review to assess the handling and function of the Argus once winter comes. So if you’re curious about how mongoose bicycle the bike performs in the snow, stay tuned….. Since our founding BMX has been the cornerstone of who we are.

When break-in didn’t help, I installed Shimano SM-RT56 Disc Brake Rotors (6-Bolt, 160mm) and  Shimano BR-M375 Disc Brake Calipers. Was tempted to go hydraulic, but didn’t want to spend the money for possible over-kill. My son was apprehensive to let loose with the rigid platform. He did say that he noticed a difference in the handling with the big tires and it felt kind of like his Kawasaki KLX 110.

My son was able to adapt his riding to match the needs of the machine. My son is also still a child and I don’t want to torture him too much. We will definitely stick to mountain biking with his Trailcraft, but I am excited to get my son out on some decent snow rides. I am excited to take my son fat biking this coming winter and provide a complete review.

The bike has a clean, modern look thanks to internal cable routing and a short 40mm stem with medium-wide, 720mm bars. The geometry is fairly modern for a department store bike, with a 66.5° head tube angle and a 75° seat tube angle. We started Rascal Rides when Parker was born and we didn’t want to give up our passion for biking. Over the years, we’ve tested hundreds of kids bikes, helmets, bike trailers, and more.

Speed across virtually any terrain with ease on the Mongoose Men’s Malus 26 in Fat Tire Bike. The front and rear disc brakes give you a practical way to stop. Roll over difficult terrain with ease on the Argus Trail 26 fat tire bike by Mongoose. This beast of a bike provides improved stability on sand, snow, or even slick roads. And the Argus’ Tectonic T2 aluminum frame with rigid fork makes for a strong, stable ride with added lateral rigidity.

He did a good video recently on some more budget parts (including hydraulic disc brakes) as well as he has been playing with a Walmart MTB recently. I have a 7 speed Shimano thumb shifter and aluminum mountain bike pedals on the way. The stock brakes kinda suck too so I was thinking about upgrading to Shimano hydraulic brakes in the future. From the world cup racer, to the bike park ripper, the Fury is tunable for any type of gravity rider.

Luckily, we have tow ropes to mitigate the mongoose bicycle complaints. My son has grown to like down hill riding better than cross country. When we climb he lets the complaining come flying out. Mongoose utilizes house branded parts to cover contact points like the grips, pedals and seat.

Brands include Specialized, Mongoose, Polaris, Kona, Gravity, Kawasaki, Borealis and more! Manufacturers are creating frames out of tons of different materials including aluminum, carbon, titanium, bamboo, real steel, and Wal-Mart steel. Most fat-bikes that you will come across have a fully rigid frame. However fat bikes with front fork suspension and full-body suspension have started to emerge. Compared to bikes from other major brands like Specialized and Trek, the Mongoose Switchback Expert offers a pretty similar value.
