In other words, one partner—or one partner’s gear—is always going to get a dose of weather when they head out. The Tungsten 4 design equalizes exposure and protection. Despite having the smallest capacity of the tents we tested—42.5 square feet—the Mineral King 3 easily fits two people with a full-size mattress, or two sleeping pads, ozark trail table and gear. Two large vestibules add nearly 40 square feet combined—that is, 18.75 square feet on either side. To test the tents, we first opened them, splayed out their parts, and tried to put them together without consulting the instructions. We assembled and disassembled the tents on all of our testing sites multiple times.
I do think the Pelicans pull handle is the lowest on my list of the three. When it comes to the seal, I was again very impressed by this cooler. Cracking this thing open sounds like you are opening the airlock on a spaceship.
With nearly 60 square feet of floor space plus two large vestibules, the Tungsten 4 is roomier than our top-pick tent for couples. It also costs more, though, and is less forgiving of a careless set-up. I’ll be totally honest, I was not expecting this cooler to be as nice as it was. It’s easy to get caught up in brand perception and often times very difficult to break away from what you think you know about a brand. I used the word “think” intentionally, because what I thought I knew about Ozark Trail was not correct. Ozark Trail is proving to be a really solid competitor for outdoor products.
I would like a response to this please and I do expect some compensation of some kind! Every time we put some faith in these tents we got let down. Not sure what season our tents were but, we had to get 4 of them. I must say that nothing is waterproof, water resistant is a better term.
If not for the tarp, all of my gear would have been soaked through and ruined. This would have been especially bad and expensive having occurred during a medieval re-enactment event. When I began to put in the stakes I observed that even the stakes were inferior compared to my older stakes. The stakes that were provided were half the diameter of the stakes that were once provided. Again this raised my suspicion and I looked this tent up online.
I took the time to set it up before the camping event (which I highly recommend) and not only was it easy to set up, it worked well. We had hail and severe gusts, and we were dry, and tent still standing. You have to be kidding me. bought the tent and the first outing was great.
Its fly extends into a huge front vestibule that can store large items like bikes, or even accommodate a table and chairs. Adults over 6 feet tall will be able to walk upright inside this tent—which has almost-vertical walls that can easily accommodate beds, cribs, and cots—as well as in the vestibule. A full rain cover, two vestibules, and an extra-sturdy pole structure make this the best choice for couples who want to get outside in any weather. It’s pricey, though, and unless the other couples’ tents we recommend, it doesn’t include a footprint. I have been tent camping for over 20 years and have always had a cabin style tent and endured many wind and rain storms.
I have been camping all of my life and I know camping gear. This is just to let you know of my background and my knowledge. Your tents are not even good for more than two or three camping trips before the 10 has to be replaced because of your substandard zippers you put on the front door. The biggest material difference between the Sundome and our other picks is its crunchy, tarp-like polyethylene floor.
This outdoor structure stands tall next to the iconic Inspiration Tower and boasts the same incredible views coupled with an exciting ascent. The story and history of The Shepherd of the Hills collides with present-day on our open-air, Jeep-drawn tram tour of the Homestead. Your Ozark native guide will lead you through the key locations and places of inspiration during Harold Bell Wright’s sabbatical in the Missouri hills. My last tent I woke up and I had 4 inches of water inside.
This design is a big plus for people who regularly camp in crowded campgrounds and don’t like to get naked in front of strangers. And you can unzip the front door, remove it, and neatly stash it into one of the tent’s internal pockets—a useful feature if you’re feeling sociable. In terms of how the two tents feel, the Marmot Tungsten 4 is more geared toward hunkering down and providing stalwart defense against wind, rain, and sun. In contrast to the Mineral King 3’s triangular vestibules, the Tungsten 4’s vestibules are trapezoidal, opening via a central door with protected areas on either side. This design does a better job shielding the tent from incoming—and sideways—wind and rain.
