The dual foil blades give a quick, close shave whenever and wherever you need it. If a close shave is your top priority, you may find that an electric razor simply cannot compare to a manual one. “Waterproof” means different things to different people, but when you see it on a product’s packaging, it likely means that the device is 100% waterproof.
I wouldn’t really consider a cc Series 3 ProSkin with a cleaning station because those are a lot more expensive than the solo shavers like the 3040s. The Series 3 has a rather unique implementation of the shaving head with the three cutting elements without the standard foil frame, resulting in a very slim and nimble shaver. They are particularly impressive at cutting longer stubble (up to 5 days of growth) and are remarkably gentle to the skin, particularly the non-Pro models. The old Series 7 solo models will work with a compatible cleaning station purchased separately. As mentioned before, it’s a rather basic station with a single cleaning program, no active drying system and that protruding arm that’s reminiscent of the Series 3 cleaning station. And it should be since it doesn’t have the bells and whistles of the old Series 5 station or of any higher-end Braun stations (like 3 cleaning programs or a fan that dries the shaving head).
In the tables above you’ll find most of the S9/S9 PRO/S9 PRO+ models sold worldwide. This can result in a marginally faster and closer shave compared to the standard Series 9 which is on the other hand gentler and a bit more forgiving. The Series 9 Pro/Series 9 PRO+ is slightly more powerful (it even sounds a bit louder), it’s grabbier and slightly more aggressive. You can check out my Series 9 Pro review and Series 9 PRO+ review where I address these differences in great detail, braun hair removal but here’s a quick summary that should help you choose between them if you’re on the fence. The Series 9 PRO+ which was launched in 2023 is basically a Series 9 Pro with a new (slightly improved) hair trimmer and some visual tweaks (more black and gold accents). Since the first two are not available anymore, I’m mainly going to focus on the current Series 9 93xx (these are the standard, non-Pro models) and of course on the newer Series 9 Pro (94xx) and Series 9 PRO+ (95xx).
In addition, we weighed each model and measured the noise (decibel level) of each razor during operation. We didn’t test battery life, specifically; all of the models we picked were capable of running for about an hour on a full charge. We had the testers keep the top-performing razors for extended periods to allow for break-in time.
I always pay close attention to the barber’s tools and have gotten extremely close fades and shaves with the Andis Profoil Plus. For the past four years, we consulted with Men’s Health’s Grooming editors and writers on the best-performing electric razors for men. If you follow all these steps you should be in good hands for getting a quality shave every time. Just make sure to take care of your razor and give it proper maintenance. And if you’re just starting out using an electric razor, give yourself a grace period for your skin to adjust (we touch on the reasoning for this more down below).
The uniquely designed Braun foils cut the hairs below 0.05mm and the AutoSense technology adjusts the power to your beard’s density—for a close shave even on dense beards. If you find yourself needing a shaver that provides a razor-close finish but doesn’t feel like a handheld Tesla, then you’ll want this one. (Funny enough, it still looks like a Ferrari.) BaBylissPro’s shaver is terrific for paving pristine necklines, braun electric shavers periodic all-over cleanups and on-the-go necessities. In short, it’s perfect for the person who needs a reliable device but doesn’t need the bells and whistles. That person is going to get the same value out of this device—namely, an efficient and razor-close shave—without having to spend $300. The Braun Series 7 electric shaver for men with 360-degree adaptation for a smooth shave even in tricky areas.
