The Sundome’s tarp is clearly a budget material, but for what it was, we found it user-friendly. It’s easy to ozark trail canopy tent mop up after wet paws and spills, and it doesn’t hold moisture. It’s unlikely to be as durable, though, as the softer, stronger polyester found in our other picks. One night during testing, for example, clouds loomed in the distance with clear skies overhead.
Our only quibble with the Mineral King 3 is that it comes with only six stakes. (Our runner-up pick comes with eight.) Six is enough to secure the tent and fly but not to fully secure the tent’s extra lines in very windy conditions. These inexpensive stakes are comparable to the ones that accompany the Mineral King 3; these slightly more expensive stakes will serve you well in any car-camping terrain. The Mineral King 3’s fly attaches intuitively with plastic buckles and has well-placed guy tabs. When the fly is fully deployed, the tent has two vestibules, which provide additional gear storage and also help ventilate the tent in inclement weather. And in a stroke of design brilliance, a small loop sewn into the ozark trail canopy tent top of the fly makes it possible to roll up one half of the fly, exposing the full mesh canopy while still providing shade and privacy.
You also have 17 steel stakes included in the package, so use them and stake the tent properly. Regarding the size, obviously this is a huge tent, but the declared capacity is no less than 12 people. Now, the tent’s dimensions are 20 x 18 ft (610 x 549 cm), but this is just the ground needed for the tent. You have seen above ozark trail instant cabin how the actual floor area looks, so the floor size here is (according to the manufacturer’s statement) around 56 ft² (5.2 m²) per room.
The Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent has just 1 door, which is a D-shaped door, and it’s located somewhere along the length of the tent. There are 2 windows along the length of the tent, and 1 window on the width of the tent. Next, attach the 6 steel wall poles to the elbow connectors (the top of each pole) and to the pin at the other end (the base of each pole). The 2 green pole sleeves are for the longer diagonal poles (with 9 fiberglass segments), and the 1 blue pole sleeve is the for the shorter pole (with 5 fiberglass segments).
From the inside, you can seal it shut completely with Velcro, it’s quite tight and shouldn’t let in any bugs. But one thing I did like is that I could still fit a small lantern up on the lantern loop, even with the gear loft in place. There’s just a single door at the front of the tent, and to be honest, I didn’t really like it very much for a few reasons. These windows aren’t too big though, each of them is in this triangle shape, with a longest length of 39 inches and longest width of 19 inches.
Though it is a cabin-style tent, the slanted walls will give it more wind resistance than a typical cabin tent. Regarding seasons & climate, this is a summer camping tent for places without rain and strong winds. The waterproof rating is minimal, the fly covers only the ceiling, the tent is very tall and as such a huge obstacle for winds and it would not last long in a very windy place. We were skeptical about the vestibule’s ability to handle wind, since it’s big and supported by a single pole, but it stood fast in 30 mph oceanside gusts and 15 mph hilltop winds. The biggest material difference between the Sundome and our other picks is its crunchy, tarp-like polyethylene floor. The other tents in this guide all have bathtub-style tape-seamed polyester floors, which is the standard among high-quality tents.
Also, I’m not tall enough to attach it without some help, but if you’re slightly taller you should be able to attach it no problem. Every single time I open this door, the zipper will snag at least once, sometimes twice, which can be annoying. The door does have a bug net, but it’s only for half the door, and not the full door. The holes are quite large, so I’m pretty sure that this is not no-see-um mesh. The entire Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent takes about 10 minutes to set up, when my brother and I were setting it up together (2 people). For ease of use, I looked at how easily I could set up this Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent on my own, and with 2 people as well.
Ozark Trail is famous for its huge large family camping tents and they have many 12-person tents in particular, so it is easy to get lost. This tent presented here may look like a rectangular structure, but in fact, it is more a Y-shape structure as the picture below (very roughly) shows. I have seen people asking about this and this is why I made the sketch of its flor plan.
Keep your group safe and comfortable when in the outdoors with this Ozark Trail 6-Person Dark Rest Instant Cabin Tent. This model is convenient to have on camping and hiking trips because it sets up in just 60 seconds. Even at 10′ x 9′, the Ozark Trail instant cabin tent requires no assembly as its poles are pre-attached to the unit. The innovative Dark Rest technology blocks sunlight to help you stay cooler and sleep longer. Multiple skylights with interior ceiling panels allow you to customize the light and can be rolled back for stargazing or extra interior illumination.
It allows some wind to travel through, so the awning doesn’t move around, and it also helps to drain any build-up of rainfall. There is electrical cord access in this tent, and it can be fully covered when not in use. You can cover up any long extension cords without the risk of tripping over them inside the tent. This access allows you to charge any devices with ease, so you don’t have to rely on a car battery.
