It’s heavier than its competitors and not as easy to fold, but it has a carrying strap attached to the frame (something its competitors didn’t have). This chair’s weight capacity is 250 pounds—less than that of the ALPS Mountaineering Rendezvous low chair. The Chair One is rated to hold up to 320 pounds—more than any other lightweight chair we tested aside from the Moon Lence. Several Wirecutter staffers have owned the Coleman chair for years, using it on camping trips, in backyards, and at sporting events. For the most part, it’s held up well, but one common quibble is that the seat bottom begins to sag after several years of use.
Seven additional spans were also demolished for safety reasons, and the remaining span was donated to the City of Newcastle. The old bridge can be viewed as you cross the Canadian River on I-44, or take exit 108A off I-44 southbound and turn right onto Meridian Road. The next part of your journey takes you off Route 66 to the small town of Langston, which is located midway between Guthrie and Stillwater. The city’s most notable attraction is Langston University, the only historically Black college in Oklahoma, which was established in 1897.
At 9 lbs each, these retro chairs have been a favorite over the years. Based on reviews, elderly customers particularly enjoy this style due to this higher seat and sturdy construction. This chair’s big canopy provides ample sun protection at a campsite or sporting event, and it doubles as a backpack-strap-equipped carrying case. No other chair in our testing pool—except perhaps the extremely pricey Yeti Trailhead—came close to matching the King Kong’s build quality. It’s more affordable than other chairs we tested of similar quality. Most other chairs in its price range don’t match its quality, features, or reputation.
For many owners we’ve talked to, it’s been an essential chair for watching sporting events or any other time you’ll be in the direct sun for hours, like cookouts, picnics, birthday parties, and field trips. Like others in its category, this chair comes with an over-the-shoulder carry bag, but some testers found it was light and compact enough to carry without the case. If you’re looking for highly specialized or ultra-lightweight chairs for backpacking, our recommendations are probably not for you. We also don’t have suggestions for couch-style or loveseat chairs (we’d like to look at those someday, though).
Comes with the same compact bag with a shoulder strap for carrying. The wide and deep seat allowed for plenty of shifting around until the perfect position was found and the arm rests gave plenty of support. The chair proved to be comfortable even well into the late evening so an excellent choice for round the campfire.
It is much longer than other chairs and although it’s not particularly heavy, it’s slightly bulky and not as portable as the OEX Ultra Lite Camping Chair for example. The cup holder was a bonus and would fit the majority of standard water bottles, cans and thermos flasks. There is no additional storage or a second cup holder but for the low price point, I wouldn’t have expected that nor is it needed. The chair is simple to use and functional, without all the bells and whistles of some of the more luxurious models out there.
It has the perfect amount of recline, while still being supportive. The cup holders are large enough for any water bottle — even a 40-ounce Stanley! There is a carrying strap both on the chair and bag, so if you need to take it without the bag, it’s still easy to tote around.
Wherever I go, a crucial piece of the camping setup is a stable, comfortable chair. Higher back and a head rest that make it more comfortable. Good design with a small pocket to place your cell phone or snacks near the cup holder. Sturdy arm rests and sits a little higher from the ground, making it a great choice for taller people. One of the best features is the longer back panel which reaches up to the neck and allows for you to tip your head back and rest it on the lightly cushioned area for extra relaxation. We also found that this extra head area gave the chair a more secure feeling and gave you confidence to lean back into the chair.
