At the first sign of rain, it took only a few seconds—and a quick hand stuck outside the tent—to unfurl the fly and secure it for a dry night’s sleep. When we awoke, we could roll back one part of the vestibule, make coffee, and watch the sky lighten even though it was still raining. A full rain cover, two vestibules, and an extra-sturdy ozark trail canopy pole structure make this the best choice for families who want to get outside in any weather. The quality of materials used in Ozark Trail Canopies varies depending on the specific model. However, all models are designed to provide excellent protection against the elements while being lightweight and easy to transport.
Despite its durability, the one downside I encountered was that the canopy was a bit challenging to transport and store. However, the included carrying bag made it a bit more manageable, allowing for easy storage when not in use. However, one issue I had with the canopy was the push handle, which was not as easy to use as advertised. I ended up struggling to set it up by myself, taking several minutes to figure it out. Additionally, I found the fabric to be less weather-resistant than I would have liked, and it struggled to withstand heavy rain without tearing or filling with water.
It has everything you need for three-season camping, with the bonus of being light enough to double as an occasional backpacking tent. Although it’s designed to accommodate three people—hence the “3” in its name—we found that at 42.5 square feet, the tent is more comfortable for two, plus gear and maybe a medium-size dog. An ozark trail chair is a versatile outdoor shelter designed to protect against the sun, rain, and wind. It is typically made of durable materials, such as polyester or nylon, and is ideal for camping, picnics, outdoor events, and other recreational activities. Ozark Trail Canopies come in various sizes and configurations, making them suitable for different settings and needs. To ensure the canopy endures different weather conditions, look for features such as UV protection, heavy-duty materials, and sturdy poles.
These include sidewalls, weight bags, and a host of other great add-ons that can really increase the use and versatility of the canopy tent. Perhaps our two favorites are camping tent additions that connect to the frame of the shelter and leverage the stability of the 10×10 frame to support a camping tent structure. The most popular product in their line is the 10×10 Instant Slant Leg Tent with a blue canopy top. It is made with a steel construction frame and polyester material for the canopy, which is in line with just about every shade tent on the market today. The frame is that of a pyramid structure, which are generally found in all value brand canopy tents as they require less material to manufacture vs. that of a full truss system and as a result can keep the price lower. If you can afford to spend more on a family tent, we recommend The North Face Wawona 6.
Despite the drawbacks, I did appreciate the brand’s overall commitment to adventure and helping families create unforgettable memories. But in the future, I think it’s best to opt for a more reliable canopy with extra reinforcements for durability. I recently tested out the Ozark Trail 12′ x 12′ Straight Leg Canopy, and it was quite an experience. Although it took a little effort to figure out the instructions and adjust to the sturdy frame, the canopy itself proved to be quite reliable. I liked the feature that allowed me to adjust the shade as I needed, and the 50+ UV protection was a great bonus as well. However, one aspect that could be improved is the material’s resistance to strong winds.

Our Also great picks, the REI Co-op Base Camp 4 and Base Camp 6 tents, are now back in stock. A convenient E-port enabled me to easily charge my electronic devices within the tent, while the media pocket and multi-section organizer pockets kept everything neat and tidy. Inspiration Tower is Branson’s “landmark on the horizon” — a massive 230′ tall structure located on Inspiration Point, which is the highest point in Southwest Missouri.
(As its name indicates, it’s meant to house six people, but we wouldn’t recommend that.) The Wireless 6 has two large doors and a full rain fly. And this tent is easy to set up and pack down, especially considering its size. As with most six-person tents, the Wawona 6’s footprint is sold separately. A classic polyester dome tent, the Mineral King 3 uses two high-quality pre-bent aluminum poles, which maximize head and shoulder space, making this tent feel less cramped than other dome tents we tested.
