Weber Traveler Portable Gas Grill

Some people found the grill’s simplicity of operation appealing, as it was easy to set up and fold down. Its portability was also praised by some, as it made it easy to move the grill around for cookouts. To avoid grease accumulation or leftover food particles, you should also keep the cookbox clean. The drip tray can be scraped clean of grease once it has cooled. Although it is disposable, you can put it in the dishwasher and use it again. The Weber Traveler is a basic grill with one burner and a solid side return that can hold a dish or a couple of plates.

If you want to grill steaks, burgers, chicken and hot dogs having one single burner won’t be a problem. It’s also big enough that you can enjoy cooking with it at home. In this review, I’ll run through my experience cooking on the Weber Traveller, both at home and on the road. And if you want to check out a video review we did I’ve included that below. At 1,300 BTUs, the Weber has a good punch of power for a portable grill.

Due to the amount of cooking space, I also managed to char about 6 hot dogs and 4 turkey burgers at the same time. Next, I attached the camping size propane tank (you can buy an attachment to connect full-sized tanks), performed the burn-off, seasoned the grates weber traveler with cooking oil and let it cool off for about a half hour. As I spent 6 weeks testing and cooking on the grill, I was impressed by the thoughtful design of the grill. Every feature has been added to enhance your entire experience, from transport to grilling.

At 1,300 BTUs, the Weber has a good punch of power for a portable grill so I expected some serious heat. The internal temp quickly rose to just about 500 degrees F with the lid closed but didn’t exceed that temp. Worth noting that 500 is a good mark to hit for high-heat grilling — things like steaks, burgers and in my case, tuna. The tuna steaks and sausages I plunked down on the grill grates got a nice sear with pretty grill marks in about 10 minutes (five on each side). The 49-pound is a large, heavy-weight standing grill, which makes it difficult to compete against the more petite grills in our lineup. However, the designers at Weber truly put a lot of thought into the ease of transport by including a mechanism that allows for a slow lowering into a compact position.

Weber Traveler Portable Propane Gas Grill with Side Table offers up a seriously innovative mobile grilling experience for camping, hiking or tailgating. It also doesn’t skimp on performance features, with a large grilling area and broad temperature range so you can achieve the same delicious results with the Traveler as you can with many full sized grills. Even though this stand-up grill weighs 49 pounds, it is easy to set up and break down with one hand.

We also recently did a review of the new Weber Q2800N+ which is the latest version of the Q range and comes with a few nice upgrades. Judging by the char, the surfaces were the hottest just outside of the solid ring on the grates that is meant to protect grease from spilling onto the burners. The very inner and outer parts of the surface were the cooler zones.

On the flip side, the Traveler is less portable than the brand would have you believe in its flashy promotional videos. It’s heavier than any other portable grill I’ve tested and I would categorize the Traveler as a semi-portable grill and not a truly portable grill. weber natural gas grill Next, I wanted to see how well I could control the temperature for lower-slower grilling candidates. There’s just one knob to control the fuel output and while the temp did drop when I lowered it, it was difficult to precisely control the temp one way or the other.
