“This particular item is amazing. It weighs so little, yet it is so powerful. It’s great for fabric surfaces [like the] top of your bed, rugs, runners, but especially hardwood and tile. You cannot go wrong for the price.” While you’d think a bigger dustbin would always be better, there is one advantage to the smaller dustbin of the Sharks. I’ve found it’s easier to reach in and get all of the vacuumed up crap and debris out of the Shark dustbin since it’s a lot shallower than the Dyson dustbin. We appreciate the inclusion of the multi-purpose pet tool, which impressed with its wide-head brush and the flat head options.
Dyson measures suction power in air watts with the Dyson v10 at 151 air watts, the Dyson v11 at 185 air watts, and the Dyson v15 at 230 air watts. The power of Sharks is reported in watts with the Shark Rocket Pet Pro at 181 watts and the Shark Vertex at 281 watts. Watts is not as accurate of a reflection of suction powder since it refers to the total shark pet vacuum amount of power supplied to all components of the vacuum (including the lights), not just the suction power. The Dyson v11 (and the newer Dyson v15 that has a comparable battery life to the v11). Next came the Dyson v10 that ran for 32 minutes, the Shark Vertex that ran for 29 minutes, and then the Shark Rocket Pet Pro that ran for 26 minutes.
Note that machines with lithium batteries tend to have a longer runtime and charge up more quickly. Some machines even come with a pair of batteries, so you can swap them over for a longer runtime. But even machines with a shorter running time and/or those that only come with a single battery can be useful for quick jobs such as cleaning small spaces or regular tasks such as tackling crumbs after a meal. shark handheld vacuum Based on all of the features I discussed, if I had to choose between a Shark or Dyson and the cost for all of them was exactly the same, I’d go with a Dyson. But that’s not the case – when looking at cost, the Dysons are priced significantly higher than Sharks. While the Dysons may have more features than the Sharks, the Sharks are great vacuums for the price and their multiflex feature is awesome.
We were also disappointed there were no LEDs on the floor cleaning head – a feature offered by some vacuums in this list – which makes it easier when cleaning in dark spaces under furniture. Being able to vacuum and mop in one go is in itself a revelation for how much time and effort it saves. This high-performance cordless vacuum is packed with smart features such as dust-detection tech and a flexible wand tool, but more affordable than rivals. The Eureka All in One Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner is another corded mop vac and it’s very similar to the corded Crosswave Pet Pro.
Don’t expect to get much more than quarter of an hour’s use out of a fully-charged cordless vacuum. Many cordless vacuums come with a second, subsitute battery to double the run-time. The dust cup was very easy to remove, empty and replace, something I can’t say for all the models in our test. I like the extended comfy grip and how well it maneuvered on bare floors and low- and medium-pile carpets. The controls are clear and easy to use and it comes with a wall-mountable caddy that holds all the vacuum’s attachments — even a flexible hose — so nothing gets lost.
