Bissell CrossWave Review: This Mop Vacuum Cleaner Hybrid Tackles the Dirtiest Kitchen Floors

The water tank has clearly legible fill lines for cleaning either large or small spaces. My budget pick, the iFloor3, doesn’t have nearly as many features as my top pick, but it cleaned better, more quietly, and more efficiently than vacuum mop combos from other big brands. It easily clears away small and bulky debris like rice and cereal, with no significant loss in suction performance as its dustbin fills up. The new CrossWave OmniForce machine doesn’t just clean up after pets, it helps save them, too.

I spoke with fellow Epi staffer and recent mop-vac convert Emily Farris about her experience with her Tineco Floor One S5. While I live with just one roommate, her cleaning situation is a bit different. “I have two small kids, a messy husband, and a big, hairy rescue mutt,” she tells me. She’s also not a fan of cleaning out the dirty water tank, but we both agree that it’s a small price to pay.

It’s pretty cool technology but it wasn’t great at cleaning my textured kitchen floor (to be fair, the product description does state that it performs best on “leveled” floors). If you have the benefit of perfectly flat floors this could work—especially if you’re in an apartment and worry about noise. But if your floors have seen smoother days or you have an old house with kids and pets, you’re probably better off with something that actually sucks (in the good way).

BISSELL has received 66 reports of the vacuum smoking and emitting a burning odor; including five reports of the battery pack catching on fire, three of which resulted in minor property damage and one resulting in a burn injury. Any parts that you wash under water should be left to dry completely before refitting them. bissell vacuum cleaner Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC. The blocked vent switch (BVS) can fail to shut down the burners if the boilers are installed at altitudes above 5,400 feet and the vent system becomes blocked.

The manufacturer recommends using the ‘Hard Floor’ setting to clear stains on bare surfaces but using the ‘Area Rug’ setting for stubborn messes since it releases more detergent onto the brushroll. It’s worth noting that this vacuum can leave behind a small amount of residue after completing a pass, though thankfully, it’s pretty easy to clear away. You’ll probably need to make several passes to fully clean most stains, and a hand mop will likely be more efficient in cleaning stubborn stains since you can manually provide a greater degree of surface agitation. The bissell pet vacuum Max and Hoover ONEPWR Evolve Pet share an upright configuration, but they’re for different uses. The BISSELL is a hybrid vacuum/mop and can deal with stains and liquid spills with minimal difficulty. It performs better on bare floors than the Hoover, and its fluffy brushroll is better suited to drawing debris up from cracks and crevices.

Halve your cleaning time with our range of BISSELL® CrossWave® wet dry vacuum cleaners! CrossWave® is a two-in-one multi surface cleaner that vacuums and mops hard floors and refreshes low-pile rugs at the same time. Super easy and convenient to use, these revolutionary floor cleaners feature twin tank technology so you are always cleaning with fresh water and BISSELL solution. Ditch the old vacuum and mop and make life less messy with the BISSELL® CrossWave® range of products.

It uses a less powerful suction motor than the corded BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro and is likely to have more trouble drawing out debris wedged deep within cracks and crevices. Like the corded model, swapping between the ‘Hard Floor’ and ‘Area Rug’ modes doesn’t impact suction performance, as these settings don’t alter brushroll height or motor output. The BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max is a passable option for cleaning staircases. It feels lightweight in your hand, while its cordless design ensures you won’t trip over a power cord. It performs remarkably well on bare surfaces, though it can have a hard time on low-pile carpeting.

I have on a number of occasions been unable to finish cleaning the tile flooring of our kitchen, family room, laundry room, powder room, and hallway, forcing the vacuum to be left to recharge for 4 hours. During that time, the cleaning solution goes from hot to cold, making the next usage cycle less optimal in cleaning effectiveness. As such, you have to prioritize which areas you want this appliance to clean and which remaining places to manually vacuum/sweep and mop. The CrossWave Cordless Max is the most feature-rich, premium of the CrossWave series, and is designed to vacuum and wash supported floors (and some area rugs) at the same time. Unlike dedicated dry vacuums and carpet cleaners, this appliance will not be as powerful as the aforementioned, but rather for general, daily use. While some mop vacs can technically be used on area rugs, none of the models I tested impressed me with their rug-cleaning abilities.

Ideal for regular, routine cleaning as well as those messy accidents that simply happen in an active family home. 25 minutes of uninterrupted run time enables you to simultaneously vacuum, wash and dry multiple rooms and floor types in the average sized house. And to learn more about how I tested mop vacs, how they work, and which models didn’t make the shortlist, keep reading. Though the breadth of the brand’s offerings in the vacuum mop combo category can be a bit overwhelming (more on that later), I highly recommend two Tineco models at different price points.
