Igloo announces ECOCOOL version of its Trailmate Cooler, made of recycled plastic

That being said, all you’d have to do is fill the Trailmate Cooler with ice, drinks and food and you’re ready to enjoy 4 days of outdoor fun if not more depending on the weather and other factors. These two materials won’t rust, break or fail apart; they’re meant to hold the coolers’ parts together regardless of the surrounding environment for a cooler with a longer life span than expected. And to make this cooler even tougher, Igloo added marine grade aluminum construction and stainless steel to its overall built for maximum durability and functionality. That said, the Trailmate is 34.59″ x 19.7″ x 23.61″ (LxWxH) and that’s not small at all. Actually, you’ll usually end up needing a second hand to help you put the cooler in your car’s or van’s trunk when it’s fully loaded. One you get that covered, you’ll only have to drag it around since it’s wheeled.

As we mentioned in the opening, we feel the Trailmate is the best bang for the buck when it comes to wheeled coolers. This cooler others impressive ice retention, igloo trailmate cooler more features than most competitors, yet doesn’t break the bank. Prices are constantly fluctuating, but normally the Trailmate can be picked up for under $250.

While we sort of wish that they would have gone with Rotomolded construction, this process would have likely greatly increased the size, weight, and cost of the cooler. For what it’s worth, this was one of our “fan favorites” among friends and family while we were conducting an ice retention test which included 25 different coolers. A quick look at the Igloo Trailmate will reveal its’ unique stance. This is not a run of the mill budget cooler yet not a roto molded cooler, it falls somewhere in between. Igloo makes a lot of products, many of which we think are excellent values for what they bring to the table. Unfortunately, we don’t feel the same way about the Trailmate Marine.

And we have seen instances where a cooler loaded with features ends up having subpar ice performance as a result of all of these additional features. One of the significant selling points of the Igloo Trailmate, in our eyes, is the horde of elements that come norm with this cooler. We were at first siphoned about this variety of highlights, however our energy decreased all through testing.

Igloo today released the all-new ECOCOOL Trailmate, an eco-friendly version of its best-selling, all-terrain wheeled cooler. Get out there with our Trailmate cooler bags — easy to carry and crafted to withstand the elements while keeping drinks and food chilled for your long outdoor excursion. The larger versions of this cooler are 55 qt and 80 qt and that’s not only more storage space but also more money. I’m aware that this part had gone for longer than you might have anticipated but can you really blame us? The Trailmate is a total monster when it comes to features and we needed to do it justice because this is not something you see everyday.

The same mounting bracket that is used for the removable rod holders can be used with removable Igloo cup holders. Needless to say this is the perfect cooler for a beach day or surf fishing. This was a cooler I had my eye on for years and finally snagged one to test out. The cooler caught my eye with the unique styling and the large wheels in the back.

First things first, The Yeti’s Haul is of course wheeled but it comes with a 55 qt capacity only unlike the Trailmate that’s 70 qt. Also, this latter comes with huge wheels that offer 10 inches of clearance off the ground while the Yeti Haul is not as high and bulky. The Trailmate, in its 3 versions; the Journey, the Marine and the Liddup, is one hell of a versatile cooler that can perform as good in all different outdoor environment and situations. The built quality, though it’s not Bear Proof like Yeti Tundra Haul Wheeled Cooler…, is quite robust which suggests that it’s capable of taking some beating.

Unfortunately, that little white box slides up and off the cooler as soon as you apply pressure – not a great handle, so the retracted trolley arm will have to do. Our least favorite aspect in terms of usability igloo trailmate cooler is the drain found in this cooler. Though it has a wide channel to help empty it of meltwater, the inside of the drain also is turned into a protruding tunnel into the interior by a white plastic tube.

On various events, we found our hand looking for a front handle that doesn’t exist, just to lock onto the lower part of the little white box settled on the front. Tragically, that little white box slides up and off the cooler when you apply pressure — not an incredible handle, so the withdrawn streetcar arm should do. Our most un-most loved angle as far as ease of use is the channel viewed as in this cooler. However it has a wide channel to assist with exhausting it of meltwater, within the channel likewise is transformed into a projecting passage into the inside by a white plastic cylinder. Why this is a thing, we don’t know, as it made the Trailmate the most un-helpful for discharging by means of channel fitting of any model we tried. With no hooks to play with, the Trailmate is genuinely simple to open when you need a portion of its items.
