Back in 1974, the BMX Products, Inc company was originally known for their famous MotoMags wheels which were produced from cast magnesium. Mongoose Bikes was a brand name of bikes originally designed, manufactured, and sold by BMX Products, Inc. Also, all Mongoose Legion BMXs will have the wheel size (20-inch diameter) unless it’s the Legion L16 or Legion L18 (which have 16-inch and 18-inch diameter wheels, respectively). 10,000+ products in stock and over 40,000 satisfied customers to date. Brunswick sold Mongoose to Pacific Cycle in 2000 and Pacific Cycle was bought by Montreal-based Dorel Industries in 2004.

Skip Hess started BMX Products, Inc. out of his home in Simi Valley, California in September 1974 with his first product being the famous Motomag One wheel. According to Skip “When the Motomags were the first and only product I produced, I could remain working from my home and garage in Simi Valley. I bought a van to transport the Cragar made heat treated castings to shot peening and then to the machine shop where after machining, the wheels were boxed and shipped. About a 1 ½ years later when I chose to manufacture frames and complete bikes I leased a small industrial shop in Chatsworth.
