Hyper Bicycles Hyper eRide Mountain Bike eBike Review Updated: Nov, 2023

What I found with the Hyper Ebike, is that pedal assistance in this case does not mean that you are putting in a tremendous amount of effort to use the motor. All that is required of the rider is a quick revolution of the pedals every so often to keep the motor engaged and working for you. If you are maxing this bike out at weight capacity and going up a steep hill, you will need to put a bit more effort in. There is only so much a motor can do and you shouldn’t expect an Ebike to have the same towing capacity as an ATV. Something to consider with this Ebike is that it is not operated by a throttle like some of the more expensive options on the market.

If you ride your bike for the day and take your battery down to zero, you can still use your bike as a standard rider while your battery is back at camp or home charging up. The Hyper MTB Ebike is honestly one of the most reasonably priced Ebikes that I have come across while scouring the web. One of the biggest things that we were looking for was a bike that was a fit physically and also had enough capability to haul additional weight for our gear when hunting. Admittedly, neither of us are in peak physical condition, sitting around the 220 LBS mark for personal weight, but the bike has a rider capacity of 275 LBS which is more than enough.

The Hyper eRide mountain bike has been hailed as the perfect companion for younger cyclists looking to get out and explore. At an affordable price, it’s equipped with a powerful electric pedal-assist motor and a 26-inch mountain bike frame. This cutting-edge equipment provides a great way for riders to travel faster, farther, and more comfortably than ever before. It loses three points for the small defects and bad customer service from the manufacturer and seller. The bike gears and peddles are slightly stiff, but I am sure it will loosen up with a bit of oiling and riding. I would recommend this bike if you are on a budget and need basic transportation for getting around because it does the job and serves its purpose.

In the intervening years Hyper has maintained its position as a leader in BMX, with a full line of products for racing and freestyle riders. Hyper has also continued its commitment to the sport by sponsoring riders, teams, as well as being the series title sponsor for several major events. A few problems I found with the bike are as follows-

First, I don’t like how the handle bars are designed because you need a wrench to tighten them up and put them on. This is slightly annoying because other than the tires, everything else is assembled using hex keys (also known as an allen wrench). I would have prefered if the handlebars required Hex keys because you could use a multi-tool to quickly make adjustments while riding without needing any other items, but as it is now I always have to carry an adjustable wrench with me.

I weigh 190lbs and on a straight road, I get up to 19mph which is way faster then what I need. I go so many places on this bike that I would have never gone to if I had to do all the peddling. I can move thru the orange groves around here so much easier then before. This bike is quiet, so I have been able to get close to some of the wildlife roaming in these parts, (wild hogs, turkeys,etc.).

For a product that would have cost the company a minimum of $10 to ship out, I did find it a bit frustrating that their customer service was so poor and we ended up having to pay for the replacement ourselves. The Back tire isn’t fitted in place correctly and is slightly too high up on the rear tire axle shaft. It appears to be tightened in place and secure by the nut screw, but it creeps me out a bit that if the nut were to unscrew a bit the tire would fly out….

For an off road test I took the Hyper MTB Ebike to a local park wth 14 miles of easy – difficult trails. With the bike on the Medium setting, I was able to make it all the way through with the trail system with a little bit left in the tank. Overall I would have to say I am not only happy with the performance but also happy to see the product description live up to it’s real world use. I have to say that I was far less skeptical of a pedal assist Ebike after breaking this out and taking it for a ride.

Out of the box the manufacturer recommends that you charge the Ebike for a minimum of 4 hours before use, which I started before assembling the bike. True to the manual, after the 4 hour charge time was complete, I was ready to roll with full power available to me. All that was required on my end was installing the handlebars, hyper mountain bike pedals, and battery. The Hyper MTB Ebike came in a pretty large box, but that is to be expected when ordering any type of bicycle online. The box itself weighed over 50lbs, so if you aren’t comfortable moving around that much weight, grab a friend to help you bring your bike inside or where you plan to assemble it.

It won’t be the end of the world if you are riding on some unfavorable trails and you have water or mud splash up on the bike, but the manufacturer recommends that you do not leave your bike in the rain or exposed to water that would allow the battery to become saturated. Like all other larger batteries, it’s recommended that you throw the battery on the charger every 4-6 weeks so that you don’t allow it to become completely drained. Lithium-ion batteries can experience performance issues once they get to a state of having no charge, so a quick charge every so often will keep your battery healthy long term.

I have tightened it a few times and it now finally stays in place, but it can be dangerous when it randomly slides over while riding. It has a dual steel suspension frame (front fork shocks and strut on the frame located under the seat area) that provides a comfortable ride for the 26′ Hyper Shocker Bike, even on off-road surfaces. Speech wheels, resin platform pedals, and a rear derailleur are other elements of this Hyper mountain bike. In terms of the 20 mile claim, we were able to easily accomplish this in city streets with minimal inclines.
