Ozark Trail 14 Liter Medium Hydration Hiking Backpack, Grey

It also includes loops to hang your trekking poles when not in use. This pack fits me fine and is very comfortable for lightweight loads. It’s light enough that I don’t mind putting it in my backpack and it takes up almost no space at all.

Trail maps are free to print at home or available for purchase at the online store. It’s kind of a standing joke with me and my blue bag in Peru, Europe etc… I love it and for $17 at Walmart it is still my go-to bag for the last 10 years.

My glucose meter and keys went in the small outside pocket. I did instantly notice the difference of carrying a lighter bag. I also don’t really prefer single compartment stuff bags, but, this works for what ozark trail outdoor equipment I need. And the construction utilizes proven rotomolding technology and stainless steel hardware. I used the word “think” intentionally, because what I thought I knew about Ozark Trail was not correct.

I can’t imagine loading this up with a lot of bulky, heavy items. If you’re looking for a daypack, or a carry-on that fits everywhere, this is the deal. I drooled over all the lightweight packs from the major manufacturers for a few years. There’s no way I can justify paying five times more for something that might carry just as well.

The four or six tent pegs hold the structure down but are crucial for the tent to stand by itself. The Ozark does need those pegs in the ground to be self-standing so setting up on rocks would be infeasible (at least without applying some clever tenting skills). In the following paragraphs I share just a few design features that, in my opinion, make this a well-designed product.

In fact, they’re certified by the USDA’s Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee to be bear-resistant. This canopy gives 64 sq ft of coverage with an SPF of 50+ and features an easy-up design with telescoping legs, so it can be set up in just a matter of minutes. Plus it includes stakes and guy ropes, and a wheeled bag for easy transportation and storage.

The pyramid frame design is made of durable and powder-coated steel that is resistant to rust and corrosion. The one downside with integrated rain flies is the lack of ventilation and temperature control. We had great weather – not too hot and not too cold – but it did rain for about 5 minutes. My friend chose to not put up his rain fly betting on the perfect weather to continue while enjoying the stars at night. During those five minutes of rain, he was a little more stressed as the risk of a wet sleeping bag had not been completely mitigated and he rushed back to the campground.

Funds, however, were non existent and my CFO (i.e. my wife) wouldn’t increase my discretionary fund. I’ve shared what I think are important things to remember when preparing for a multi-day backpacking trip. I’ll update this post as questions reveal other areas to include.

I pack needed items in small containers when possible to save weight. No need for a tube of foot cream or sunscreen, so I estimate what might be needed and pack that amount. As you can see from the photo, I still had foot cream, sunscreen, first aid cream, and Dawn Soap at the end of eight days. The floss is for size reference, but I’m looking for smaller floss containers. I despise plastic floss picks when I see them in the woods. Whatever you use should be placed in your trash bag and carried out.
