He also helped with the launch of WSJ’s Buy Side commerce vertical, and has covered the music and podcast industries for Mass Appeal, Genius, Vulture, Leafly, Input, and The A.V. Club. Equally passionate about leisure as he is his penmanship, Kevin dedicates his spare time to graphic novels, birding, making cold brew, and taking long, meandering walks. Both models feature a flip-flop hub with a cassette body and fixed thread that lets you easily swap between fixed and freewheel cogs with a standard bottom bracket tool. And all adult Priority models use a quieter, cleaner, less-mess Gates belt drive instead of a traditional chain and cassette. A 680mm-wide, flat handlebar and 28mm WTB ThickSlick tires round out this clean-looking, stylish city fixie.

The BikeLife crowd prefers 26-inch or 29-inch wheels, although 24-inch and 27.5-inch options are also available.

As a taller person, I think I would possibly put higher rise bars on it eventually. All in all though, I’d most likely just leave it it until I significantly damaged or broke anything on this bike before I’d invest in any upgrades/replacement parts. The bike has almost totally cured me of the aging MTBer’s bad habit of hanging off the back of the saddle when things get hairy. If you hang off the back of the Mongoose Fireball Moto you go wrong.

It has excellent performance, is spec’d smartly, comes out of the box almost 100% ready for commuting use, and is priced well. We recommend the Level to any commuter or recreationally oriented rider looking for great value, performance, and function in an e-bike. The Aventon Level checks off almost every one of the necessary boxes in what I look for in a purpose-built commuter bike.

Sporting the brand’s signature Lefty fork, the Bad Boy 3 stands out from the crowd, featuring a fully blacked-out look designed to blend in. It’s an exciting mix, but works perfectly for the Bad Boy. Other features include a Shimano Altus 2×8-speed drivetrain that provides a wide gear range, powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and 650b wheels that blend durability and speed. You might find you’ll want to upgrade to something lighter sooner than you’d think. If you are planning on using the bike in rain or bad weather, we do strongly advise choosing a model with fully sealed bearings all round. Mongoose was born from BMX racing with products that push the limits of what a rider can do on the track.

Mongoose designs BMX Freestyle and BMX Race bikes for riders of all ages and ability levels, and our bikes are trusted by some of the world’s best riders. To be frank, I think it’s a good idea to not to overly bothered about the bike and the parts that it’s built up with. Apart from the suspension fork, I don’t think think there’s any component on this bike that would be significantly improved by an upgrade. The bike is not a comfy or easy-going experience. Which is not so much a criticism, it’s more of an observation of the way things inherently are on playbikes like these. Today, we are looking, specifically at the Pro, Pro XL and Pro XXL models.

The Mongoose Title Elite complete bike has been around for a while but we’ve finally been able to get our hands on one thanks to the Aussie distributors PSI Cycling. When the Title Elite hit the market it caused quite a stir, and it’s easy to see why. Mainly because I am aging mountain biker and that’s a gear we slip into very easily. But partly because riding this bike did have me experiencing a strange kind of ‘muscle memory’. Arms and legs bent out as far as possible, neck cricked upwards to see what lay ahead, legs aching was not-ever-sitting-down.
