While the Ozark Trail Hard-Sided Coolers are mostly designed to compete with the premium coolers of the industry, their soft-sided coolers are more balanced. Yeti soft sided coolers are made from heavy duty 840D nylon that is TPU laminated and uses RF welding to seal it all together. This can include things such as premature leaking, warping of the lid, and stitching coming undone. Ozark Trail is one of the most common brands we have been asked about as a potential “Yeti replacement”. We must admit that the huge price cut and supposed similar ice retention and features are tempting.
Another good thing about Ozark Trail coolers is that all of their metal components are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to both breaking and corrosion. If you’re going to create a top tier cooler, it obviously has to be rotomolded. If you want your cooler to be both tough and durable, you can’t skimp on this one aspect of design. There’s a tick on that little detail on Ozark’s part because their coolers are, in fact, rotomolded. Ozark Trail decided to pass up the opportunity to create a simple cooler for the medium price range to the lower price range. The only group that isn’t served here is the group of people looking for coolers over 100 quarts in capacity.
Even the smallest hard-sided coolers are too large to make an effective lunch box. Ozark Trail’s hard-sided coolers all feature one-piece construction without any seams. This allows the coolers to keep ice cold for long periods of time.
