Best Tent Camping: Missouri and the Ozarks: Your Car-Camping Guide to Scenic .. Steve Henry

My husband and I decided to head to the Texas coast for our 10yr old’s first camping trip. I LOVE the room first of all , and the looks were very eye pleasing too. We set the tent up in the yard, only took us about 15min. When something says “waterproof” it does not mean it will not leak. It is made of nylon and nylon does not keep water out.

The people who make your zippers should quit and get another profession. Your zippers are the worst in all camping gears I have bought. We put a small table and cooking supplies under the sun shade and this worked out nicely. Overall, I started out the trip happy with my purchase. The sun shield was a success considering the $50 price point.

It has plenty of sleeping space and storage space as well. When the thing finally wore out I thought I would spring for something with a little bit more room. I got a 16′ x 10.5′ family Dome tent by Ozark Trail. The thing was fairly complex and that it was kind of mediocre, my main complaint is, unlike my Hillary it was absolutely not waterproof at all. It seemed like the rain came right through the top and formed a large puddles on the tent floor. I had a Hillary tent that I had brought from Sears.

But the only problem i got is that the poles are falling apart because of the elastic cording inside them is rotted out. I can’t find anywhere to fix the problem so i will have to retire it and buy a new one soon. Also using a ground cover under the tent (seems obvious to me) will help prevent water from coming in from the underside of the tent.

I must say that nothing is waterproof, water resistant is a better term. I bought a $3 bottle of seam sealer followed the directions and have not ozark trail sleeping bag had a single issue with water since. I just bought the 9’x7′ backpacking tent 2 days ago, because I want to do some bikepacking here in FL.

I purchased this tent to take to music festivals and such, because it is like a small house. However, for its second trip it just fell apart. One day into a 3-day festival, I returned to camp to find both of the large poles snapped right in two. I have tried to use it at our local beach and when ever the wind gets to 7-10 mph off we go chasing the tarp and that leaves the screen dome uncovered and in blew the sand.

It kept anyone out of the sun who chose to be that day. It was nice having some refuge when you wanted it. Whether you were just ozark trail sun shelter hot, or starting to sun burn, it definitely served it’s purpose. We did take it to the beach on a day that had a little wind.

The tent is open at the top with a weather rain fly that fits over the dome. The fly is so small it allows rain to blow up under and then runs into the tent. I had bought this tent thinking it was going to be dry, man was I wrong. This tent leaked water more than i had ever seen. I will never buy an Ozark Trail tent in my life and I will tell everyone I know that if they buy one what to expect. And that is you will never be dry in one because they suck bad.
