Huffy 26″ Baypointe Cruiser Bike Assorted Colors

My oldest desperately wanted one of the chopper-style bicycles that came out when he was about 12, 20 years or so ago. They were kinda expensive back then, so he ended up with a regular BMX bike. I really wanted a chopper bike, but the Schwinn huffy bikes Sting Ray, not a Raleigh Chopper. Raleigh was a girl’s three speed bike in my town and still is, at least if you are of a certain age. I especially wanted the Sting Ray with the steering wheel — they may have called it something different.

If you overinflate, you run the risk of blowing the tube either while pumping or while

riding due to sudden or constant impact. This occurs when

the tube becomes squeezed between the rim and tire casing by hitting a bump with an underinflated huffy bikes wheel. Not only does

this damage the tire, it can also hurt the rim. Plus, flat tires slow you down and make you pedal harder, which is

just no fun. Having the right PSI in your bike tires can make a world of difference.

Though it folds into a compact package, it’s quite heavy at 62.5 lbs, so lifting it into a trunk or carrying it up a flight of stairs can be difficult. All that said, this value-oriented foldable model is a great option for anyone short on storage or seeking a compact e-bike. In the early days of mountain biking, we used to size MTBs by the lengths of their seat tubes, as that would give someone a pretty good idea of what the standover height for a bike would be.

Cruiser e-bikes prioritize comfort, convenience, and ease of use. They have a more relaxed and upright riding position and are made for long and slow outings down the neighborhood bike path or on the side street that leads to the beach. These typically have a very user-friendly interface and have the option for a step-through frame design to make mounting and dismounting easier for most people. Wider tires make them best suited for rides on the pavement.

The metallic blue Huffy Cape Cod cruiser is design for comfort, convenience and fun. The convenient front rack is designed for easy use with a large area to carry items. A stylish pouch is tucked behind the saddle with enough room for your keys, phone and other essentials. The special details begin with the custom sculpted aluminum head tube badge featuring the Cape Cod design. Proprietary chrome Cape Cod insignias adorn the bike, with an anchor featured on the chrome crown fork. A ship’s wheel design is featured on the chain wheel, while a wood-grain finish is used on the chainguard, rack and other areas of the cruiser.

The Varsity must have been stolen because I obviously never sell my bicycles. I’m younger than the author, and grew up in the 90s-2000s, well after the time of these bikes, but I do remember the second wave of chopper bikes. They had some beefy rear tires that I’d imagine cost a fortune to replace. I had a Schwinn Sting Ray, but a later one with a same size front wheel as back, and no suspension in the front fork.
