Let me end this with that fact that the Incline was a good $75 cheaper, and offers an awesome bang for the buck! It would be awesome for someone that wants to get started, but knows they will get a completely different bike down the road, and doesn’t want to upgrade it. As I mentioned with the Incline, the Boundary has this functionality.
Despite the bike’s modest price tag, we were quite excited to see how it would perform on the road. Well thought out geometry, good looks and great handling make the Genesis Core 26.4 stand out as a great bike at a good price. The greatest restriction on how fast you can go when pinning singletrack is the tyres, yes they are fast rolling but they lack bite, something with greater cornering grip would certainly show off bikes handling better. Set up was simple, the bike did come with a whole bunch of spacers below the stem, after less than 30 seconds on the bike I had these shuffled to get the front as low as possible and it was off to the trails. Genesis supply the 27.2mm seat post, 75mm stem and 685mm medium rise bars, the Flux saddle is practical but may not suit everyone.

That being said, it’s better to stick to trails with less gravel; you should switch out the tires if you plan on tackling trails with really gravelly surfaces.

This top-down forest road singletrack trail is lined with intermingling trees and has many turns. At first, I was a little concerned about whether it would cause a sightline obstruction, but as soon as the tires started rolling, I knew it wouldn’t be genesis bike a problem. An impressive fork at this price point and sensible kit are great and the wheels finish the package off nicely but the main attraction here is the geometry. The first thing you notice is that the cockpit is comfortable, it just feels right.
Plus, plus that headtube/stem/fork is just, well there are no words. Overall, this is designed to be a starter bike, and it’s a great way to introduce your kids to a better class of cycling. You don’t have to tweak much in terms of setting it up, and all you need to do is jump on and ride. This bike is aimed more at beginners or intermediate riders; advanced riders will want an upgraded model instead.
Yew has a particular liking for iron and its roots will actively seek out the veins of iron ore – look out for the fantastic root formations.
