While we’re sure there’s going to be lots of opinions and questions about why this or that bike didn’t land on our list, these are the 14 e-bikes we’re most excited about right now. This is not a comprehensive list, nor were we able to consider each and every e-bike use case, but we do think all the bikes on this list are a good representation of what’s out there right now. Riders can also choose between a traditional frame and a step-thru design. Payload capacity, campers who want to go bag dinner can carry it back to camp as well.

Using a throttle will quickly eat up the battery life on the bike, so you’ll get far less of a range if you don’t want to pedal at all. Despite that, this bike was a real pleasure to ride. Its electric shifter responded near instantly, as did the pedal assist and throttle. However, schwinn mountain bicycles while the G4i+ has daytime running lights, you’ll have to pay extra for a legit headlight, as well as mudguards. Also, the G4i+ has a great smartphone app, but one of the flimsiest methods of holding your phone on the bike itself — a cheap solution for a bike that costs $7,000.

The Specialized Turbo Vado is the result of world-class engineering with a high level of detail. The specially tuned 250W mid-drive motor is as responsive as any we’ve ever pedaled, delivering the right amount of assistance needed from the moment your shoes turn the cranks. A low standover height, adjustable stem and powerful 500W brushless motor make this a terrific option for smaller riders. It can be unlocked to reach a Class 3 top speed of 28 mph, which makes it a fun way to commute or just get around. Almost every cargo e-bike rider we’ve known has accessories for either kids or gear. You can add two XL cargo pannier bags, or seat cushions and grab bars to the dual-battery XPedition and STILL not cross the typical $2000 mark.

Level 1 throttle tops out at around 10 mph while level 5 will give you the full 20 mph. Of course, the premier feature of this e-bike is the “e” part. Some thought was put into the idea there and I appreciated it. The first thing you’ll notice about the Coston CE e-bike is that is built like a tank, which is both good and bad. It’s good because everything on the bike feels solid and borderline rugged. The downside is this bike feels about as heavy as a light-armored vehicle.

Or, at least, get some good detail photos of parts otherwise not covered. Schwinn are now in their second generation of ebikes with the Marshall, Coston CE and DX. The Marshall is a bit more sporty for off-road and on. The Coston CE and DX are more at home on the pavement. The 250 watt motor could be bigger for this bike to use the throttle regularly and give a better boost on hills. I think the battery built into the bottom tube looks cool.
