The biggest issue in all of this is the inability to withstand any rotational pressure during medium and high impact weather conditions as the joints become unstable and collapse at the mid points. In windy conditions high stress is applied to each side and the frame begins to break down at the unreinforced joint connectors. The extra support features make sure everything is secure. It is a very nice easy way for a family that does not have a lot to pull from to utilize money with dual purpose. I wish I could find this tent in a 12′ x 12′ model!!!
The canopy fabric is made of a lightweight denier polyester, offering water resistant features and 50+ UPF, which we love. Being protected from the suns harmful UVB rays is probably why you wanted a canopy tent in the first place, and this Ozark Trail tent meets all criteria in this department. The one complaint we have is that there is no vents in the fabric at the peak to release the build up of hot air under the canopy. Most new tents incorporate this ventilated canopy design to increase airflow and reduce the trapping of hot air, helping to keep those in the shade cooler and more comfortable. The weight of this Ozark Trail is lighter than most of the same size alternative steel frame canopy tents, coming in right about 29 lbs.
Amazingly simple no rods to misplace…highly recommend this tent if you can find them. I had some tents before, but when I was looking for a new one, I saw this on sale and take it to home. My only complaint is when I need to get in to the bag, but not is a big problem. Thought it was the best tent ever until we used it with a decent wind blowing.
Will not let anyone borrow it because I cannot find one to replace it. She fell in love with the way it goes up and folds down. I have the 9×9 First Up dome tent tan with brown and blue trim. The reason why I gave it 4 and not 5 is it says 4-5 people but really is best for just 2 and perhaps an infant. Also the sides of the tent are netted mesh so it get a bit nippy in the tent at night wish they had made a closing window for those.
It is made with a steel construction frame and polyester material for the canopy, which is in line with just about every shade tent on the market today. The legs are locked into place with old school metal push button locks, something you won’t see on many modern pop up tents now-a-days. These push locks get very difficult to use over time, especially if the tent is used on the beach and exposed to sand and saltwater, causing rust build up. Many newer tent ozark trail wagon brands like EZ-Up use revolutionary thumb lock sliders or larger easy to release buttons, which are a much better user experience when setting the canopy up or taking it down. With the push buttons you need to worry about pinching fingers or not being able to release the button when it gets rusted, which is never a pleasant experience. The legs extend to give the top peak a height of about 8’10” which will be plenty of headroom for anyone underneath.
It also helps to prevent it from easily blowing away, seeing as the wind doesn’t get caught on the large volume of fabric. There doesn’t seem to be any information on the thickness level of the polyester, but this Ozark Trail Canopy model does have a 50+ UV protection rating. This is very important for gazebos, considering their principal purpose is to shield from the sun. In terms of being waterproof, we think it’s more so water repellent.
A couple of elements make it standout from a regular shelter, like the upper vents in the roof and the upgraded all-steel structure. It is the best, so easy to set up.Wwhen it rains it doesn’t leak at all. My autistic grandson loves it but we can’t figure out how to pop it back down to fit the storage bag. As well as plenty of room on the ground, the height is tall and allows even the tallest in your family or friends to stand up everywhere, not just at the peak. We appreciate that the frame has been made of tough steel, as this ensures that it will stay stable throughout moderate winds.
Make your tailgate, campout, or backyard party even more enjoyable with the Ozark Trail 10′ x 10′ Instant Straight Leg Canopy. Made of a durable polyester construction, this canopy tent provides 100 square feet of cooling shade anywhere and the easy push-button system offers safe setup and takedown. It features built-in vents on the top for added ventilation and offers you 50+ UV protection from the hot sun all day long.
I highly advise that a tarp be used under this (and any other) tent, as that’s where most water will get in… I have had a drop or two of water get through the floor in HEAVY downpours with blowing winds, but not in normal rain showers. Great tent for a beginner or someone who likes to travel light. I bought this tent on clearance at WalMart a few years ago.
It’s not super heavy because of the soft top, and that also seems to be a main reason for why its price is so reasonable. Based on the high brand reputation and the overall quality of materials, this looks like a trustworthy choice. Set-up is instant so you can have it up and running in no time at all. A base area measuring 15.47 sq ft gives this tent a… Trailspace’s community of gear reviewers has field-tested and rated the top tents and shelters. I have fellow campers that would love to buy one, but for some reason I can’t find one anywhere.
