If when you try on a helmet the retention system is on its limit, it is probably the wrong size for you. The MIPS liner is designed to reduce rotational forces on the brain that can occur in the event of a crash. It creates a slip plane to mimic and amplify the brain’s own protection system to minimize force transmission to the brain. If you choose to spend more, the helmet won’t necessarily be safer but instead may be lighter, and more breathable.
