A friend kept sharing her deals so I had to start following and I’m so glad I did. I have been able to purchase so many items at great prices because of her posts. She is great about commenting back to questions or even just saying thanks to people who let her know they picked up an item she posted! Ozark Trail makes dozens of tents and shelters for campers, beachgoers and backyard loungers alike. If you’re trying to put together the 10-by-13-foot or 12-by-14-foot model, the same instructions will apply. In about 15 minutes, you should be basking in the shade.
Now unable to get all the parts I need to make it worth repairing. The screen tent came with missing and broken parts. Their solution was for me to pay for replacements out of pocket. No apology, no offer for a resolution. The product is garbage and the customer service is worse.
The screen is great for nice weather. It gives great shade and it keeps flies out. We used it to put it over a little swimming pool ozark trail sleeping bag for our children and it works great. I called to get a replacement and the customer service person I talked to was awesome!
Check the items delivery info at point of purchase. This tent is only $47 at Walmart, however that is not the point. The hubs on the tent and the construction of the design are worthless. A light misting rain and it’s all over. The hubs break and the legpoles bend beyond repair. I purchased my tent a couple of years ago, but time passed and just got it out to put it up.
The elbow elements which connect the roof poles and the legs are pre-attached to the tent so you cannot lose them, see one in the picture below. However, the setup time of this huge tent is some 20 minutes or so. It is much easier to set it up with a partner, this holds in particular for the fly because of the height of the tent. Seasons-wise & climate-wise, there is no doubt this is a summer camping tent and most suitable for warm weather camping.
The rain fly is with taped seams but it covers only the roof. On the other hand, this is a pleasant tall tent but this does not make it suitable for windy conditions. Note also that you have what they describe as a cathedral roof, this is great but this cannot support any extra weight.
So I would put it in the group of 3-room tents. One mad idea often begets another, and that is how this $34.95 purchase came about. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere in the blog, I’m getting married in Joshua Tree on August 2nd, outdoors.
The plastic corners are not worth putting the room up. But I did find this to get parts from California. Absolutely no offer to resolve the issue.
Trailspace’s community of gear reviewers has field-tested and rated the top tents and shelters. You either need six people or twelve arms to hold the thing together when assembling. Then the screening doesn’t fit right over the frame. Hopefully I can find a replacement part.
