The S7 MaxV Ultra has the same sonic VibraRise mopping action as the S7, so it mops very well. But it also has AI-powered obstacle recognition, so it won’t get caught in clutter and can avoid rolling in dog poop. There’s the option of using the onboard camera as a security camera, with two-way talk built in (livestream only — there’s no recording). It does require a bit more hands-on effort, though, since you have to refill the reservoir (it doesn’t warn you when it’s empty) and wash the mopping pads (you can throw them in the washing machine).
The low-profile design of this vacuum allows the Shark Ion Robot to clean beneath furniture. You don’t have to worry about this vacuum cleaner getting stuck underneath furniture. The dual spinning side brushes pull in debris and dirt from corners and edges. They work by pulling debris out of the range of the vacuum and dragging it to the center where the main brush roll can pick it up.
The most intimate image we saw was the series of video stills featuring the young woman on the toilet, her face blocked in the lead image but unobscured in the grainy scroll of shots below. In another image, a boy who appears to be eight or nine years old, and whose face is clearly visible, is sprawled on his stomach across a hallway floor. A triangular shark pet hair vacuum flop of hair spills across his forehead as he stares, with apparent amusement, at the object recording him from just below eye level. As Roomba’s current top model, its manufacturer’s suggested retail price is a cool $1,000, but if you’re looking for the best possible clean and an above-average user experience, the s9+ is worth the expense.
Some homes have more of these traps than others; most homes have at least a few. The Shark AI Robot VacMop is the only model on this list that doesn’t use a camera. That’s great, but it did not avoid any obstacles, nor did it even acknowledge in the app that it encountered any. We also tested the Ecovacs Deebot T8 AIVI, which failed to avoid any objects. It just informed us in the app, after the session was over and the Nutella was smeared everywhere, that there were many objects on our floor and that we should pick them up.
The Roomba S9+, j7+, Combo j7+, i7+, i3+ EVO, e5, and other high-end models offer some more unique features compared to most Shark robots. Even without the mopping functionality of the Combo version of the j7+, the OG j7+ is still a super-solid investment — especially when it drops to less than $600. It shark dustbuster was the first Roomba to introduce Genius Technology and PrecisionVision Navigation to avoid small obstacles that were previously problem-causers, like phone chargers and pet waste. Shark offers more features at a lower price, even though Roomba offers more suction technology and better brushes overall.
