Schwinn Sycamore 350 Watt Hub-Drive 8-Speed Mountain Hybrid Electric B

Cycling is one of the best activities you can do if you like being outside. It’s environmentally friendly, you don’t have to pay for any gas, and it gets you a breath of fresh air that driving in a car just doesn’t provide. Back in the day you’d have to work your butt off to pedal schwinn mountain bicycles a bike around the city, but these days you can get some assistance thanks to electric bikes. The Tailwind’s frame is meant for flat city or suburban riding, and, at the end of the day, Schwinn’s entire package here hits dead-on a really specific and growing demographic.

I like how the Marshall is a bit more upright than a standard mountain bike but in a better position for standing than a cruiser. By default, the console shows the battery left, speed, total distance and pedal assist level. The up and down are mostly for adjusting the pedal assist levels up and down. The Marshall looks like a mountain bike with a comfy cruiser feel to it.

There are no fenders or a rear rack on the Marshall, which is one of the biggest differences between this and the Schwinn Coston electric bike. We have a video that details electric bike assembly and with a few basic tools you’ll be out and about in a matter of minutes. We’ve also put together a guide for new electric bike riders that details each step you should take before you ride.

The bike was provided by Schwinn for the purposes of the review. The front fork evens out the bumps on the pavement and the dirt. The mountain bike shape makes it easy to ride on rough trails as well. The balance with the the battery takes a bit to get used to but then it’s all fun anywhere you go. The pedal assist level only affects the boost you get when pedalling, not the throttle speed. The standout features are the integrated LED frame light, head, and taillights, plus fenders, a rear rack, and a storage saddle which isn’t included with any other electric Schwinn bike.

One feature I liked was a secondary tab you need to retract to remove the battery. That way, when you unlock the battery it doesn’t just fall out. Some thought was put into the idea there and I appreciated it. The battery meter is comprised of five segments to give you an estimate of how much power you have left. What makes me excited about the bike is the possibilities that it opens up, but like a lot of aspects of this bike, it’s something of a double-edged sword. Electric bikes are a ton of fun and I’ve had a great time this summer riding them.

Never before has an electric bike been as easy to use as one of the four Schwinn electric bikes. These step-through frames are as comfortable as ever, with a host of features to make your first-ever e-bike ride as smooth as possible. One of the valid concerns raised by riders of e-bikes is the ability of their e-bikes to hold a charge and provide pedal assistance when they’re out for rides of longer distances. Another consideration to keep in mind when choosing an e-bike (or any bike for that matter) is your height. Schwinn has electric bikes that fit riders from 4’8″ all the way up to those who are 6’4″.
