No one wants to deal with a complicated camp setup when you have kids to watch after. On the other hand, CORE tents are a little bit better when it comes to instant tents, spacious cabin tents, or instant cabin tents, thanks to the slightly better-quality instant set up mechanism. My family loves this tent and—as far as family camping tents are concerned—it has made us complete converts to the world of instant tents.
Some tents have bigger windows, like my Coleman 10-Person Instant Tent, and my Core 9-Person Instant Tent. For hot day ventilation, I would say that Coleman and CORE tents are on par with each other. These tub floors extend up the sides of the tent, so if your tent is sitting in a few inches of water, the tub floor will help to minimize leaking into the tent. My Coleman tents have at least a few inches of tub flooring, my WeatherMaster with about 7 and a half inches, and my 10-Person Instant Cabin Tent with 4 inches.
Coleman isn’t mincing words when they call this an instant tent. The advertised setup time is a blistering 60 seconds, and we found that this was not an exaggeration—even if you start the clock with the tent still inside its travel bag. The tent is freestanding, so any additional pegging can be accomplished at your leisure (unless wind is a factor).
We love this feature because you can use one space for sleeping and the other for storage, or even as a living area. You can do it by yourself, you don’t have to insert any poles and risk getting it wrong, and you can even do it at night since it’s so fast and easy. Taking it down also takes only about a minute, since you don’t need to remove any of the framework.
This can be of particular importance when you are in rush, either tired from your outdoor activity or when you are setting the tent up in rain. With the floor size of 10 x 9 ft (3 x 2.7 m), you can indeed put 6 sleeping bags there, but you will be cramped. You have put 5 pads in one row, and the sixth would be separate, oriented along the length of the tent. Note that there are no vestibules, so you have no extra covered space for gear.
I’ve set up and taken it down at least 100 times since I bought it and there’s been no failure in the pop up pole system and all the seams are still watertight. Luckily the outer door flap closes just fine and if you want to make closing the inner flap easier all you coleman ice chest have to do is leave each end of the tent staked a few inches off the ground. We experienced some very high winds when camping in southern Utah and although it was very noisy (like all tents in the wind) I never felt like the whole thing was going to blow away.
When people ask me what affordable instant tent they can buy for small weekend outings I always suggest the Coleman pop up tents. They are not only easy to set up and put away but they last for years and years. To be fair most 2 person tents are quite small and a little cramped when used by two people but because of the oval and dome shape of the , it’s even more cramped than usual. The single walls are seam-sealed and have good coverage all the way around.
It is enough space for two pillows and there’s room to store your stuff in the leftover space on each end, but it’s a little cramped if you are two adults camping for longer than just a weekend. When you have limited time to spend out in the wilderness you don’t want to use half a day setting up your tent. When we determine the valuation of a single tent, we examine tons of stuff, finding things where the tent could perform well against other similar tents and where it is lacking. The improved design features have reduced the set-up time from, what used to be around 30 minutes, to a possible one minute, with practice. Inverted floor seams boost weather-proofing by concealing needle holes inside the coleman instant tent 8. The quick set-up of this 8-person tent does not compromise your comfort factor.
Vestibules are great for storing gear or equipment outside the main body of the tent. They’re great for keeping stinky boots dry and safe without having to bring them into where you’re sleeping. It stays extremely dark inside which makes sleeping in past the rising sun a cinch.
The hinged door is another notable detail that we think works great for a larger tent. With more people using a smaller space, it’s normal to experience higher traffic with people wanting to enter and exit at different times. Sleep in past sunrise with the ingenious technology that creates a black-out dark space for resting. In comparison to other tents with dark rooms, this model blocks 90% of sunlight for a truly dark and restful experience. It also protects you from potentially harmful UV rays, which is also a big benefit when camping with kids. When you’re ready to leave, it packs down effortlessly into the carry bag.
